Commentary

Posted October 10, 2025 at 1:42 am

A lot of Bishop References

- Introduction of Bishop
- Silhouette of Bishop in a lineup showing height (two pages after previous reference)

Bishop again, talking to Arthur (voice only in one panel, actually shown on next page where it's implied Bishop had an unpleasant introduction to magic)

- Comical flashback panel of Bishop rejecting Mr. Verres (taking over Arthur's job)

- Flashback of Bishop overhearing Mr. Verres talk about giving Tedd alien tech (also present on one panel of next page tapping his shoulder)

- Bishop referenced in regard to an event 30 years ago, but unnamed, in Hope story arc in connection with Jay (Bishop IS shown on the next page, and mentioned the page after that, also referenced below).

Proper commentary!

There was going to be a few more things going on before they got to the basement. Upon realizing something I can't get into yet because spoilers, however, that was cut.

On the plus side, I got the splash panel with Bishop I'd wanted. I was going to settle for less of one for space reasons, but after reality-saving cuts were made, I decided to go for it.

I'm also going to gradually compile notes, making my own sort of low tech wiki for the comic for my own use. There are fancier options out there, but simply having notes I can search and back up easily is fine for my needs. I don't intend to take a century off to make it, so this will be an "as I go" sort of thing.

I've already made an entry regarding the thing I can't elaborate on yet, and may share some of it once it's no longer a spoiler to get into it. What I will say is that my first entry into my personal EGS Wiki was NOT about Agent Bishop. The second one probably should be, though, because I misremembered something about her, too.

Specifically, I'd forgotten Jay actually did give her name to Tedd and the others. I'd remembered it being left unsaid. It's a relatively minor thing, but it's the difference between Tedd thinking "Jay told me about her" and "could this possibly maybe be the tall woman Jay was referring to???"

So yes, maybe, just maybe, after over twenty years of this, I shouldn't be keeping track of all this by just memory and checking previous comics from time to time. If nothing else, it will make including references easier (I'm citing comics in the notes by number / date / whatever's easiest).

Sidenote: I use emoji for bullet points in these notes I've started. When they relate to who knows what or who, I use an owl for "who".
