The irony being that I finished this page on a weekend.
Maternal Cousin
I probably wouldn't have thought to use "maternal cousin" to describe Nanase's connection to Tedd if not for reading stories involving nobility in which everyone is very concerned with who is connected to whom and how. It's not a distinction I'd think to include when saying someone is my cousin, nor do I recall hearing anyone use it in person.
I used it here because I wanted to re-establish that Nanase was Tedd's cousin on his mother's side (which, incidentally, is how I'd most commonly hear it put), and "maternal cousin" was the most succinct way I could think to put it.
NERD!
I like including text and symbols on t-shirts. The reason I tend not to is because it's usually a lot of work, either redrawing something relatively complex in a small space over and over again, or attempting to warp a reused image over and over again.
Here, it would be done once and just resized, so Nanase gets to wear a "nerd" shirt (it amuses me).
I want to try to include more complex shirts with logos and such in the future, but I'm going to test the waters a bit before I do that with anyone who's going to be in a lot of varied panels over a bunch of pages. Someone over varied panels who's only going to be on one page would be a good place to experiment, however.
